Standardization helps the high-quality development of my country's furniture industry
According to the China Youth Daily client (China Youth Daily · China Youth Network reporter Wei Wan), in recent years, with the rapid development of China's furniture industry and the continuous improvement of consumer demands for furniture quality, the role of standards in guiding the furniture industry has become increasingly prominent. According to statistics from the enterprise standard information public service platform, as of November 30, 2024, there are nearly 15,000 enterprises in China that have self-declared and publicly disclosed more than 19,000 furniture implementation standards. Overall, the number of declaring enterprises has increased by about 35% compared to the same period last year, and the number of standard declarations has increased by nearly 40%. Among them, regions such as Zhejiang, Guangdong, and Shandong, where the manufacturing industry is relatively developed, show particularly prominent activity in furniture industry standards, with the number of standard declarations in the eastern coastal regions accounting for more than 50% of the national total.

In addition, the variety of furniture products is also increasingly diverse. In terms of furniture material classification, wooden furniture accounts for the largest proportion, about 30%; followed by metal and plastic furniture, each accounting for about 10% of the total. With the diversification of market demand, furniture aimed at specific user groups is thriving, such as children's furniture for infants or primary and secondary school students, with more than 700 standard declarations; and age-friendly furniture specifically designed for the elderly, with nearly 100 standards. In addition to traditional finished furniture, the standards for customized furniture that meet consumers' personalized needs are also gradually being enriched and improved. The improvement of standardization levels in the furniture industry provides important support for the optimization and upgrading of the furniture industry. Source: China Youth Daily client
